As of January 2015 the EPA has declared that contractors
in our southwest region can not install systems with less than a 14 SEER efficiency rating and can no longer utitize
the current most common refrigerant R-22. R-410A is now the most common replacement refrigerant used is most available
new systems. The EPA is also phasing out the domestic production and importation of R-22. These moves are driving
up the cost and also the selling price of R-22.
Everyone will have to face the hard financial choices left to us by our government. While there are already replacements
refrigerants for R-22 that can be used in current R-22 systems these refrigerants have not yet gained wide acceptance
and their costs are currently almost as high as R-22. We stand ready to help guide you through these difficult
choices depending on the age and condition of your current equipment.
HOMEOWNER'S TIP:
A good first line of defense against system failures and high operating costs is a good maintenance program. A
clean system can operate at its’ highest possible efficiency saving you dollars and extending the life of your
equipment. Call us today to start saving dollars and staying cooler too. That's important stuff in Texas. Cooling
system tune ups are usually less than $100.00 per system.
